V/Gov Chokdee originally hoped to have concrete answers to the adjustments by Sunday (Nov 1) the official start of the high season (see story here), but more time is needed to ensure that the decisions made do not fail.
Speaking to The Phuket News today (Nov 3) V/Gov Chokdee said, “We need additional time because we want to be more certain on what we do. Every adjustment we make should be firm and not fail,” he said.
“Our committee meetings over the past two weeks have made a lot of progress and we will try to wrap things up by November 15. We are working as fast as we can,” V/Gov Chokdee added.
The committee will hold another closed-door meeting at Provincial Hall at 2pm today where they will discuss in more detail on how to manage each individual beach.
V/Gov Chokdee also confirmed that all government departments involved in the system including the Navy, police, district offices and OrBorJors are all working together to bring the best solution to Phuket.
“We had almost a three hour meeting about laws and regulations concerning the beach management system yesterday in which we have progressed a lot.
“However, in our meeting today we will go deeper into each individual beach, and each beach will have its own solution,” V/Gov Chokdee explained.
