Capt Chatri Choowichien of the Thalang Police received a call from Thalang Hospital at 6am reporting that the emergency room medical staff were treating a man for a gunshot wound.

Police named the victim as Chayan Srinuan, 23, a food vendor at Nai Yang Beach.

Mr Chayan had been shot once in his lower left torso. The bullet exited near his genitals.

Mr Chayan has since been transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town for treatment.

“We have to wait for the victim to recover from his injury to question him about the shooting. As the bullet exited his body, we do not know the type of gun used in the attack,” Capt Chatri said.

“What we know so far is that Mr Chayan was riding on the back of a motorbike driven by his friend near the airport when another motorbike pulled up alongside and one of the men on that motorbike pulled out a gun and shot at Mr Chayan,” Col Chatri said.

“His friend is still shocked about the incident and could not recall what make of motorbike the suspects were on. As the attack happened in the Sakoo area, we have notified the Sakoo Police to investigate,” he added.

Kurt, my own assessment is it was 12 mm buckshot (multiple lead pellets) from a shotgun. The first cop at the scene tried to tell me it was a .38 but only one shot was fired, which I recognized as a shotgun (from trap shooting) and buckshot sure looks different than .38.
Betty Wong, yes I was in the house, and two slugs entered a bedroom. I suspect a foreigner who incited a local to do it. In fact it was almost bragged about on a FB page replete with photo of a shotgun which police dismissed as "unrelated."
I can't agree having a dispute with someone somehow negates the criminality of the act, or excuses the behavior.

Christy/Kurt.. Nothing unremarkable about a bullet passing through a body. Finding it would be fun.

A cursory look at a spent shell would not discern the type of weapon used, only the calibre. Neither would a scientific examination.

With all respect, BettyWong, when someone is angry there is time and space to meet and talk with each other and work things out.
Anonymously passing by your house and fire 5 shots is not exactly a way of communicating. Right?
Brings you to no where, only chance of ending up in prison.

Were you in the house at the time of the shooting Christy? Have you angered somebody local to cause this?

Wow, no less than 5 slugs, meaning 5 bullets?
And around firing point 5 casings found or not?
And police not able to tell anything?
Clear case of police not want to find out and tell anything.
Anyway, it is well known that the mentioned police area is not very strong 'equipped' really..
Not in thinking, not in investigating, and not in skills.

That's interesting about the bullet. 6 weeks on after my house was fired upon, and no less than 5 slugs recovered, Cherng-Telay Police are unable to tell the the type of gun used.
