The annual expo is held to promote and develop the quality labour skills of hotel employees and to push Phuket tourism standards to international level, explained Dr Kritsada Tonsakul, the Phuket-based director of the Southern Thailand chapter of the Thai Hotels Association.
“The Andaman Hotelier expo this year will be the biggest event for all sorts of services in the hotel and tourism industry to come together to promote and share their products,” he said.
More than 120 booths at the fair will have displays to promote hotel and tourism business products, services and supplies, he said, adding that among the organizers were the Thai Hotel Association, the Andaman Food and Beverage Management Club and Thai Chef Association.
“There will also be many activities, such as flower arranging and ice carving contests, and live entertainment during the three-day event. We think more than 30,000 people will attend the show,’ Dr Kritsada said.
Wuti Chooban, President of the Phuket and Andaman Housekeeping Club, said the expo will also help broaden the experiences of staffers working in the local tourism and hospitality industry.
“I think many people from hotel and tourism businesses will learn new skills and gain new experiences out of this exhibition,” he said.
“The event will raise local standards to international level, which will only improve Phuket’s tourism industry. The event will also pave the way for new employees in hotel and tourism businesses to be prepared to enter the competitive world of the Asean workforce.”
