Ms Monrudee this morning re-confirmed to The Phuket News that security at the airport is at “Level 3 Plus”, the highest level without closing the facility.
“We have more patrols throughout the terminal and outside, and security checks on vehicles were stepped up at 8pm last night,” she said.
More officers have been assigned to patrol the entrance and exit to the airport, and officers are conducting checks on vehicles entering the car park building, she added.
“Security patrols through the departure and arrival halls have been increased and the only vehicles allowed to approach the terminal are those picking up or dropping off passengers,” Ms Monrudee said.
“We have also increased random checks on baggage ppassing through the airport, and we have the EOD (bomb-disposal) team on 24-hour standby,” she added.
Ms Monrudee re-confirmed that no flights in or out of Phuket have been affected by the attacks in Brussles.
“All flights are still operating as scheduled,” she said.
Regardless, Ms Monrudee urged people to report anything suspicious to the nearest airport staffer or by by calling airport security at 076-351 009.
