Thalang bat first and sent an opening combination of Andrew McMillan and Justin Thomatos, who started strong with an opening stand of 114 before Thomatos was dismissed in the 15th over. McMillan was joined at the crease by Carl Baxter, but was bowled for 1 by Waseem Bhatt. Simon Wetherell made a stand with McMillan of 39 runs before being bowled out after the second break.
One of the two new signings for Thalang joined McMillan in the centre. Jean Matthee played solidly against the spin of Patrick Morton. Matthee made 11 runs before being run out with an excellent boundary throw by Richard Desmond.
Craig Murphy batted with McMillan before the opener was dismissed on 87 (81 balls).
Thalang Captain Bill Stahmer made a brief appearance with Murphy until he was adjudged LBWfor 1 off the bowling of Imtiyaz Mustaq. Gary Lane then joined the 27th over as Murphy was dismissed.
The second new signing for Thalang, Jurgen Jacobs, then strode to the wicket and cut a ball backward for two runs before he was dismissed. Martin Hill then joined Lane at the wicket but Lane (11) was runout by Bhatt to bring the Thalang innings to close after the first ball of the 31st over. Hill not out 1.
Thalang were left analyzing their innings after starting well, 3/154 after 20 overs, but being all out for 205, 11 overs later.
Patong bowlers, Bhatt, 8 overs, 1 maiden, 3/27, Mustaq, 8 overs, 3/39, Morton, 8 overs, 1/46. Justin Swart claiming the other bowling wicket, 5 overs, 1/43.
Patong took the bat and Justin Swart formed a left/right batting combination with Mustaq resulting in a 145 run stint for the 2nd wicket. Mustaq dismissed in the 27th over on 92 from 74 balls faced. Swart was dismissed for 67 runs (83 deliveries) in the 28th over.
Morton was joined by Bhatt before an excellent catch by Matthee ended Bhatt's innings on 7. Patong now 4/201, five runs shy of 1st innings points. Owen Pringle joined Morton at the crease and watched Morton hit the winning runs before he was by Baxter for 27 (29 balls).
Neil Quail was bowled by Lane for 4, bringing Richard Desmond to the centre. Pringle was bowled off the final delivery for 10 runs by Simon Wetherell. Desmond not out 1, with Patong 8/247 at the end of the game.
