OrBorJor hospital to open May 31
Phuket’s OrBorJor Hospital will open on the south-east edge of Phuket Town on May 31, offering an alternative to expensive private hospitals and overcrowded state hospitals.

The 10-floor, 129-bed hospital was formerly the privately-owned Phyathai Hospital, which went bust over a decade ago and had stood empty since.
Now it has been rehabilitated and re-equipped. The outpatients section will open on May 31, while inpatient services (including brain, cardiac and cancer specialists) will open in July.
For Thai residents with a public health insurance gold card, prices will be the same as at the state hospitals – Vachira in Phuket Town, Patong and Thalang. Foreigners will pay more but for them it will still be cheaper than private hospitals on the island.
The hospital aims to take on about 10,000 gold card patients who currently use the state hospitals, aiming mostly at people from the Phuket Town and Rassada area.
The OrBorJor Hospital is located on Sri Suthat Road in Rassada sub-district.
