One injured when Phuket pink bus flips

PHUKET: One student was injured today (June 26) when the pink public bus she was travelling on missed a bend and flipped near the Sapan Hin Sports Centre.

At 1:30pm Phuket City police were called to the scene of an accident where a pink bus had flipped on Bang Yai Rd in Saphan Hin injuring a 17-year-old girl named as Arthitaya Sirisophono.

Police and Kosoldharm rescue workers arrived to find the pink bus lying on the road on its side. The girl, a vocational college student, was lying on the ground crying for help.

Rescue workers have stated that Ms Arthitaya suffered only scratches and bruises but was taken to Vachira Hospital for x-rays after receiving first aid treatment.

The driver of the bus, Boonlert Posri, 48, who managerd to climb from the vehicle after the crash had not fled the scene and was waiting for police to arrive.

A witness told police that the bus passed the sports centre and was heading towards the vocational college with Ms Arthiaya and the conductor in the back. When the bus reached the bend the driver lost control and crashed.

Both of the people in the back were thrown from the vehicle and landed on the road.

The conductor also only suffered minor injuries.

Police are currently investigating to find the cause of the crash. No charges have yet been made.
