Byoung Wook Lim was arrested yesterday (October 1).

Immigration investigators and officials from Ministry of Tourism and Sports (MOTS) approached Byoung Wook Lim, 43, while he was illegally guiding tourists.

Officials seized nine public transportation tickets from Byoung, one which had been stamped on October 1, and the remaining seven tickets had been stamped on September 15.

Some of the tickets included details of a spa booking, which were written in Korean.

Officials were tipped off by an unknown man about Byoung working as an illegal tour guide at Chalong pier. Investigators used this information as well as photographic evidence to help with the arrest.

Santi Pawai, Director of MOTS said, “Byoung was in fact listed as managing director of the company, but he was working as a tour guide. He does not have permission to do this.”

Byoung declined to sign any forms until it be translated into Korean.

Immigration investigators told the media, “Byoung has been sent to Chalong police station to be questioned.”
