Gov Chockchai arrived at 11:30am and made his first stop at the Heroines’ Monument to pay homage to and to be bestowed blessings from the spirits of the islands’ historical saviours for his new post in Phuket.
At 5pm, Gov Chockchai will join devotees at Jui Tui Shrine in Phuket Town for the lantern-pole raising ceremony to mark the beginning of this year’s Phuket Vegetarian Festival.
On his first official day as Governor of Phuket, Gov Chockchai tomorrow (Oct 1) will meet with local officials and residents at Provincial Hall at 10am.
Phuket’s outgoing Governor, Chamroen Tipayapongtada, left the island yesterday to take up his new post as Governor of the Southern Thailand province Nakhon Sri Thammarat after a formal farewell to officials and local residents at Provincial Hall yesterday afternoon.
