Officers arrived at the Seang Arun fish market, near Rassada pier, at about 8am along with rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Foundation, who recovered the body.

An identification card found on the body identified the man as Aye Ko, 29.

“He died about eight hours before his body was found,” said Maj Suchart Meelampong of the Phuket City Police.

“We found a wound on his chin which may have something to do with his death, but it is not conclusive, so we have sent the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital for confirmation of the cause of death,” Maj Suchart said.
