At the Vijit Resort on Saturday organisers explained that there will be 11 contests in the event – men’s junior bodybuilding (open), men’s bodybuilding (up to 65 kgs, up to 70 kg, up to 80 kg and open), men’s athletic physique (height not over 170 cm and open), men’s model physique (height not over 170 cm and open), women’s athletic physique (open), Foreign men (Open, not Thai); and a prize for popular vote from any category.
Wilaiporn Wannaklang, president of the PBC and a member of the Thai team that took part in the World Bodybuilding Championships last year, said, “Bodybuilding is not yet popular in Thai society. But I want to promote it because it is not just a competitive sport; it’s also a healthy way of life.
“We expect about 100 participants from around Thailand, including 20 from Phuket. I want to present this activity to the [Tourism Authority of Thailand] as another way to support Phuket tourism.
“We have attracted many sponsors including Muscletech Thailand, The Vijitt Resort Phuket, Central Festival Phuket, Naiharn Gym and Smart Gym.
