Police said Mr Boigeol had been bashed with a hard object and suffered injuries to his head, neck and chest.
The owner of the bungalow decided to look for Mr Boigeol as it was strange he hadn't come out of the house that day. He entered the house and found the body.
The place was a mess and the man's laptop was missing, police said.
Col Peerayut Karajedi, Vice Commander of Phuket Police, said that the reason for the killing might have been robbery, or related to personal conflict or a love affair.
The man's body was taken to Vachira Hospital for an autopsy.
