According to the Thai Met’s forecast, rainclouds are expected to blanket 80 per cent of the area of Phuket in the coming two days, and 70 per cent of the other Andaman coastal provinces of Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi and Trang, respectively, while those in Satun have a slightly better chance of seeing blue skies today there, where raincloud coverage is expected to be 60 per cent.

The Thai Met forecasts the monsoon wind, which will be blowing primarily from the southwest throughout the weekend, to be about 15kph and as high as 35kph, which will result in waves of between 1-2 metres high, and higher in storms.

However, according to a forecast by the Wind Guru website, which tracks wind and surf throughout the world, the wind off Phuket should be relatively light today, and tomorrow, blowing at between 8 to 10 knots, or approximately 15-22 kph, which should result in average wave heights of between 50cm to a metre.

Temperature highs should not exceed 31 degrees Celsius, or get cooler than 24 degrees C, while the sun is due to set at 6.41pm and rise again tomorrow at 6.08am [SIC].

High tide this morning will be at 9.49am, with the tide mark to reach 1.17 metres above the average mark, before receding to the lowest point of the day at 4.10pm this afternoon, when the tide is expected to be 1.38 metres below the average mark.

High tide tonight will be at 10.08pm, which should reach 86cm above the average mark.

Tonight is the start of a new moon, which officially commences the start of the 7th lunar month in the traditional Thai calendar.

Kicking off today in north Phuket will be the 11th edition of the Phuket International Marathon, with races to be held this afternoon as well as the main event, a 42km race, to get underway tomorrow morning at Laguna Phuket.

Tomorrow, June 5, is also World Environment Day, while Phuket FC are set to host Phang Nga FC in a Phang Nga Bay derby, league match, with Sunday night's kickoff set for 7pm.
