Witnesses to the accident said the driver of the motorbike was travelling at high speed when the accident occurred.

The accident comes less than 24 hours after another Kawasaki Ninja rider was killed after his 1,000cc sports bike slammed head-on into a pickup truck at high speed in Chalong.

Dead at the scene of that accident was the motorbike rider, 20-year-old Chalermchart Podok, dressed in black jeans and a T-shirt. (See story here.)

The dangers of sport bikes on Phuket’s roads was highlighted in an Editorial in the May 5 issue of The Phuket News, which pointed out four young men who were killed in only eight weeks while riding the newly released Yamaha M-Slaz, which is plainly targeted at young riders. (See story here.)
