Lt Col Sakon Krainara of the Cherng Talay Place was called to the scene, in front of Cherng Talay temple on Sri Soonthorn Rd in Thalang, at 9:10pm.
Police arrived with rescue workers to find a Bangkok-registered Toyota Altis with a damaged front end.
Nearby on the ground was a damaged red motorbike, and its driver, 21-year-old Anusorn Petpan, lay dead.
“Local residents told us that the motorbike was travelling at high speed toward Cherng Talay (town),” Col Sakon said.
“When it reached in front of the temple, where the road was very busy as there were a shadow play concert, he tried to avoid hitting a white car that was turning left into the concert area.
“The motorbike hit the back of the white car and collided head-on into the Toyota Altis, which was travelling in the opposite direction,” Col Sakon said.
Police took the drivers of both cars, who they named as Tawat Sobsiri and Sakan Janeprai, to Cherng Talay Police Station for questioning, he added.
“We will also check any CCTV footage from the area as part of our investigation,” Col Sakon said.
Police have yet to determine whether to press any charges over the fatal accident.
