With about 90 days until race days on 4-5 June 2016, entries to all races taking place at the 11th Laguna Phuket Marathon are going quickly. The marathon on 5 June already has over 1,000 registered athletes, taking up more than half of the race’s available slots.
The half-marathon, also taking place on 5 June, is also receiving much interest with close to 1,000 runners already registered.
The total number of entry slots at this year’s Laguna Phuket Marathon is limited to a total of 8,300 slots, which can be broken down into 2,000 entries each for the marathon, half-marathon, 10.5 km run, and the 5km Walk and Run, as well as 300 entries for the Kids’ Run.
Last year close to 6,000 athletes participated in the races, making the tenth anniversary of the Laguna
Phuket Marathon a record-breaking, sold-out event.
“From the number of entries already registered and the growing interest we’ve received, we can say with certainty that this year’s Laguna Phuket Marathon is set to be another sold-out event, perhaps even faster than last year,” said Roman Floesser, General Manager of Go Adventure Asia, the organisers of the event.
Responding to the overwhelming popularity of the event, which is considered to be the largest destination marathon in Asia, race organisers Go Adventure Asia are introducing two days of fun-filled,
action-packed days at this year’s edition.
The first day, 4 June will see participants in the 2 km, 5 km and 10.5 km events running through the beautiful Laguna Phuket complex as well as winding through surrounding rubber tree plantations and local villages.
The second day of events starts early on June 5 when the runners in the half marathon and marathon take to the course.
With this new race format, runners can actually participate in more than one race, and, in the process,
get two medals that once put next to each other create a stunning visual. Runners only need to register
for the 10.5 km run on 4 June as well as the half marathon or marathon on 5 June do this.
