Looking suspicious wearing full-face black helmets and long-sleeved jackets, riding a white Honda Click motorbike, the suspects were pulled over by police at 1.30am near Soi Rong Fai Fa (power station) in Rassada.
The suspects – a 19-year-old lady-boy named as Gun Phonrop of Rawai, and a 17-year-old female with a tom-boy style hair cut, named as Sa from Vichit (real name withheld as she is a minor) – were subjected to a body search, which unveiled two realistic-looking air pistols.
Police detained the suspects, seizing the guns, motorbike, full faced helmets and jackets as evidence.
At Phuket City Police Station the suspects confessed to robbing 7-11 and Family Mart convenience stores in Chalang and Vichit this past week and told police that they had been on their way to rob the Family Mart Kuan Din Dang branch, north of SuperCheap, when police had stopped them.
Both have been charged with armed robbery, and using a vehicle to commit a crime.
