Korean designer Jang Woo-Seok created the disposable lids, which come in black and white, to feature puckered lips and a nose. (See story here.)
The nose came as an after-thought.
“I felt like there was something missing in our early design concept,” Woo-Seok explains on his website.
“I realized that touch the noses is essential point in order to feel realistically while I kissed. So I add the nose and face muscle to the lid.
“Finally, it has the lineaments of that of a Greek statue as well as a friendly face. I am sure that it is an important point to get public attention,”
For Woo-Seok, the design is a fun but functional concept the idea he got because of his love for both coffee and kisses.
“I could always find a daily cup of coffee, but a daily kiss I could not. So I began to sketch the idea at the cafe. Funny, I imagined people have a pure joy when walking around kiss lid in hand,” he says.
People on the streets of Phuket will certainly draw gazes as they smooch their daily grind. So go ahead now smooch your morning cup but be gentle, this one is hot!
