Japanese woman, 52, drowns off Krabi island

PHUKET: The 52-year-old female Japanese tourist who drowned off of Koh Kai island in Krabi's Ao Nang district this morning has died en route to hospital, officials have confirmed.

It is understood that the victim, whose name is being withheld at the moment, was staying in a popular upscale resort in the Railay Beach area.

Officials were alerted to her drowning this morning at 11.20am.
