Nik Loilong, originally from Chainat province, confessed to Chiang Mai police that he had tricked around 10 women in this way.

He befriended the victims using fake Facebook accounts, luring them with promises to pay them between B20,000 and 40,000 each in exchange for nude photos of themselves.

After recieving the photos, instead of paying them, Mr Nik blackmailed the women into stripping, while he watched on Skype and masturbated. He was finally arrested after one woman complained to Chiang Mai police, who also seized mobile phones, hard drives and computer hardware.

Nik, who was arrested last Monday, worked for Channel One television station in the Northern Thai provincial center. The case is now before the courts. Police urged members of the public to beware of such scams.
