“We are looking for underprivileged teams to register free of charge. We have openings for five teams per age group including PSS, so four other teams per group,” said PSS Head Coach Martin Hill.
A trophy will be awarded to the winning team of each age group, plus a gold medal, while silver and bronze medals will also be given to the respective 2nd and 3rd placed teams in each age group, he said.
“This year, we’re running this tournament out of its own pocket to give something back to the local footballers of Phuket.
If we could get a sponsor of some sort, we can add more excitement to all the participants such as giving tournament medals to all players, provide transport to and from the facility, or hand out healthy snacks and juices, for example,” he added.
Coach Martin also noted that he plans to add a lucky draw program where players will test their luck on recycled football goodies such as boots/shin guards and kits
The 3rd PSS Local Tournament is set for Nov 15th from 2pm - 6pm at Thanyapura. Thai years of birth are 2550 and 2551 for U8; 2548 and 2549 for U10 and 2546 and 2547 U12.
