Stronger winds coming from the the Bay of Bengal will continue to blow the haze coming from Sumatra and Borneo Islands over to southern Thailand for the next two or three days.

An official from the Phuket SOS Emergenct Warning Centre told The Phuket News, “If the wind continues to blow in the same North West direction, Phuket will still be covered by the haze for another two or three days.

“In addition, there are new fires being burned on the islands so the haze levels are not likely to decrease just yet.”

AQI PM10 levels of 120 are considered a public health hazard and therefore the young, old, and those with heart or respiratory complications are advised to avoid the haze and exerting themselves too much.

Everyone should avoid breathing in the polluted air and are advised to use a mask or cloth to filter the air when outside.
