Inaugural Food and Hotelex 2015 opens in Phuket

PHUKET: The inaugural FOOD and HOTELEX 2015 is underway in Phuket for the first time at Royal Phuket Marina, with more than 3,000 visitors expected to attend and more than B120 million in trade deals anticipated to forged at the event.

Phusit Sasitaranondha, Managing Director of leading trade fair and event organizer, Expolink Global Network Ltd, officially declared the event open yesterday (Nov 19), with strong support from the government and private sector.

Present were representatives from the Phuket Provincial Office, Phuket City, the Phuket Chamber of Commerce, Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the National Food Institute (NFI), Thailand Chefs Association and the Institute of Vocational Education Southern Region 2.

“With such strong support, we’re very proud to organise this event in Phuket,” Mr Phusit said. “FOOD and HOTELEX will showcase Phuket’s hospitality and food industry with the aim to support Phuket to become a hub of the hospitality and food industry in the region.”

The expo has been created under the concept “Your world class destination for Food and Hospitality industry”, with the aim of helping to distribute goods from the region around the world through business and connections made at the show.

“We expect more than 3,000 visitors and to generate B120 million in business for the industry,” Mr Phusit added.

More than 50 leading companies from Thailand’s hospitality and food industry are exhibiting at the expo, being held from November 19-22 at the Exhibition Hall at Royal Phuket Marina.

The event is open from 11am to 8pm daily. Entry is free.

Highlights of the show include:

The Night of Wines: A networking event where local businesses can meet with leading suppliers to develop new business opportunities. November 19-21, 5pm-8pm.

Thailand Junior Chef Championship: To promote and recognize the skills and professionalism of young chefs in Thailand, this multi-category competition welcomes more than 100 chefs competing. November 19-22, 10am to 5pm daily.
