Report by Christopher Hudon
From 9pm, a diverse crowd of locals, expats and tourists numbering more than a thousand gathered at Dragon Park and assembled into their respective category groups.
Depending on color, which corresponds to distance and course, runners were launched in a staggered fashion between 10:30 and 11pm.
Runners chose between 3.5k (pink), 5.8k (orange), or 11.2k (green), with their shirt color indicating course and distance.
The routes passed Khao Rang hill, the On On Hotel, and the historic clock tower, with more than a thousand runners taking part, including groups of families, schoolchildren and local business operators.
B50 of each entrance fee (B300) was donated to the runner's choice of charity, either orphan children or supporting the elderly in local charity-run facilities.
Stay tuned for full list of winners to be included in the print edition of The Phuket News out on January 1.
