Kanlayakorn Waesae, Ms June’s niece, said today that the Institute of Forensic Medicine had unofficially confirmed to the family that DNA tests showed the body was that of her aunt.

She told The Phuket News that a mitochondrial DNA test showed that a sample taken from one of the thigh bones found in Dokset’s house correlated with a sample taken from the inside of Ms June’s mother’s cheek.

Chalong Police are waiting for official notification of the DNA test result, expected to be delivered soon.

Dokset remains in custody while police continue to build a case against him for murder.

He was arrested on February 28 after a tip-off that Ms June’s body was stashed in his house. She had not been seen for the best part of three years.

Dokset denies killing her, saying that she died during an argument with him, when he pushed her and her head hit a wall.
