Honda CBR150 rider with stack of cash dies on north Phuket road

PHUKET: Thalang police have speculated that high speed and a hole in the road may have been factors in the fatal accident of an unidentified motorbike rider in Mai Khao last night.

At 7.50pm Pol Lt Thanom Thongpaen of Thachadchai Police Station was notified of the accident at the infamous Kor En curb on Thepkrasattri Rd, near the the Hongyok Bumroong school in Mai Khao sub district's Moo 7 locale (Ban Kor En).

Police and rescue volunteers arrived to the scene, where they found the lifeless body of a man lying on his back in the middle of the road. About 80 metres away was a wrecked white Honda CBR 150 motorbike carrying Trang plates (Gor Kor 5497).

The victim, who was estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, was not carrying any identification on his person, but had more than B40,000 in cash that was found inside a carry bag strapped to him, Pol Lt Thanom said. 

The victim was taken to Thalang Hospital as authorities attempt to identify him and notify family.
