A downpour that started at about midday and lasted 45 minutes saw floodwaters cut off two of three lanes on on Thepkrasattri Rd near the main Super Cheap store.

The two outside lanes were under about 30cm to 50cm of water for about 100 meters, reducing traffic flow to using only one lane.

Traffic Police were deployed to direct motorists to prevent accidents at the site, while Disaster Prevention and Mitigation officials from Rassada Municipality cleared trash from the roadside drains so the floodwater could dissipate, helping traffic flow to return to normal within an hour.

The Thai Meteorological Department’s Southern Meteorological Center (West Coat) today forecast more heavy rain for the next few days..

The centre also issued a sea-danger advisory, urging boats to stay ashore in heavy weather.
