Savouring flavours of Italy are now showcased at the new La Gritta restaurant, situated alongside the glamorous and typically stunning beachfront terrace, offering a unique and classy dining experience.
The restaurant invites guests on a culinary tour to Italy through the finest flavours offered in their new Discovery Menu, which mixes traditional authentic flavours with a contemporary flair and features six courses.
I recently sampled the menu, which was prepared by the talented Chef Patrizia, who hails from Rome, Italy.
We began with the Crostini Al Tre-Sapori – small pieces of ciabatta bread topped with fresh tomato salsa, Fontina cheese and smoked salmon. A very delightful starter.
Next up was the Antipasti Misto which was a delicious platter of marinated bell peppers; eggplant; artichokes along with sliced finocchiona; Parma ham and mortadella with pistachios; pesto sauce and grissini sticks – served on a large wood chopping board.
The Risotto Funghi was a nice mix of porcini and oyster mushrooms and Parmesan cheese, which was aged for 18 months.
Now for one of the highlights – Tagliata Di Manzo; rare sliced Australian beef tenderloin, fresh rocket leaves, rosemary and garlic oil. The taste of the tender juicy beef alongside the rosemary and rocket flavours was just divine.
Each mouthful was even tastier than the last. And in addition to the amazing beef, the chef also served some pork and lamb. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, the chef brought out some seafood, which proved to be popular amongst all. King prawns cooked in fresh lemon, Italian extra virgin olive oil and oregano served with soft polenta. You could smell the fresh oregano even before the plates reached the table.
Finally, my favourite part of the day. The assortment of mini enticing deserts: tiramisu; lemon tarts; and pistachio gelato, otherwise known as Assorti Mento Di Dolci.
The lemon tart was made from a mix of Thai classics: papaya; pineapple; and dragon fruit, with just a hint of sauce. The sauce was made with a little honey, which went perfectly with the sourness of the lemon tarts.
Overall, each dish was made to perfection and was a reflection of the quality of the ingredients. If you’re looking for something different and are craving an outstanding Italian evening, then head to Amari’s La Gritta restaurant and try the Discovery Menu.
The dining room is open from 6pm to midnight, while the oceanfront terrace is open from 10am to midnight everyday. For more information or to make a reservation, please call 07634 0106.
