Chains that have joined the scheme include Tesco-Lotus, Makro, Homeworks, Thai Watsadu, Family Mart and 7-Eleven. Countrywide some 12,800 branches are offering the end-of-year discounts.

Many of the discounted products are food such as rice, soup, oil and instant noodles. But Tesco is also offering a half-price smart phone, while Big C is discounting some kitchenware.

Thai Watsadu is offering cuts on products ranging from paint to furniture, toilets to fire extinguishers.
