Police were alerted at 3.30pm on Sunday that a body of a foreigner had been discovered in a room in Kamala's Moo 6.
Police and rescue workers arrived to the scene and met the owner of the room, named as Noot Paiso, who led them to the room where they found a nude foreigner lying down in the bathroom doorway.
Police noted a puddle of blood in the area near the fridge which they concluded to most likely be vomit, while noting that [SPECIFIC DETAILS OMITTED]*.
Police did not note any unusual wounds or marks on the man's head or body, but took note of a bottle of painkillers and two packs of pills used for inflamation.
The body was transported to Patong Hospital, where an initial examination led doctors to suspect that the cause of death was related to breathing complications.
Nonethless, a thourough examination is underway to confirm the exact cause of death.
Mr Noot told police that the man had rented the room and stayed there alone for more than six years.
Noot reported that the foreign tenant tended to drink a lot of alcohol and that he would usually see the foreigner walking outside the room daily, in the morning and evening, but when Noot did not see the man for the previous six days, he became suspicious and went to knock on the man's door.
When noone answered, Noot used his key to open the door and that's when he found the body and alerted police, he reported.
The deceased's name has been disclosed by police but is being withheld by The Phuket News until it can be confirmed that family have been notified.
