Staff at the Manohra Hotel on Komaraphat Rd notified police of the death at 10:30am.

Hotel staff told police that the 70-year-old man* was staying with his Thai partner on the fifth floor of the hotel, said Capt Udom Petchrat of the Phuket City Police

“There is an injury on the back of his neck, but no other signs of assault on the body or of a struggle at the scene,” Capt Udom said

“We checked the fire escape on the fourth floor, which we think the man fell from, but found nothing suspicious. The man’s body was taken to Vachira Hospital for doctors to confirm the cause of death,” he added.

“The man’s partner said that the victim was suffering a lot of stress due to health issues, which may be a reason for him to take his own life, Capt Udom said.

“She was taken to Phuket City Police Station for more questioning,” he added.
