According to the notice, the Ministry of Labour is offering amnesty to fishing operators in 22 coastal provinces in the country, including the six coastal provinces along Andaman Coast: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.
The notice, dated November 12, noted that the Ministry of Labour expects at least 1,200 illegal foreign workers to be registered during the amnesty.
Any illegal workers found still working in Thailand after January 30 would be charged and deported, the notice warned.
However, the notice did not mention the legal consequences for any Thai employers found with foreign workers still labouring for them after the deadline.
