Along with five other professional Finnish players the 23-year-old has been in Thailand for three and a half months, mostly in Hua Hin and Pattaya, playing on several different golf courses.
“I just came to see what it would be and for the future to maybe practice here,” Puhakka said, “ golf in Thailand is really good, we played a couple of tournaments. There are so many good players here, compared to Finland.”
His TV show in Finland, RoadTrip, sees Puhakka travelling the world reviewing golf courses. When asked about golf in Thailand, he shared a few of his impressions with The Phuket News.
“I noticed that the grass is different in Thailand than in Europe. If you go to the really old courses, for example the Royal Hua Hin, the grass is thick and really strong so you have to play a little different. In Europe I think it is easier, probably because we are use to it,” he said.
Puhakka also shared some advice for junior golfers who are in the beginning stages of developing their game.
“Just play as much as you can. That's the only way to get to know the game. You have time later to get to know the mechanics. But the only way to get good is to keep playing.,” Puhakka said.
