Officials from Krabi Marine Office have called in the owners after finding that a photo of the Sea Angel Cruise 5 releasing oil into the sea near Ao Ton Sai in Phi Phi was posted on Facebook.
Many commenters expressed their concern that such an act will damage coral, marine life and natural resources in the area.
The aerial picture was taken by Dr Thon Thamrongsawat, Associate Dean of the Fisheries Department at Kasetsart University.
Dr Thon posted the picture on his Facebook page with the message "This happened on April 30 at 3pm, the tour boat was anchored on the right side of Ao Ton Sai. It is hard to miss, please investigate."
Boonchow Tungsiripaisarn, Chief of Krabi Marine Office said, “Any oil released into the ocean will harm marine life and the environment.
“We sent officers out and found the boat Sea Angel Cruise 5 that runs from Phuket to Phi Phi. However, when officers arrived there was no trace of oil in the area, but since the picture shows otherwise we are contacting the owner to come in for questioning.
