At 5:30pm Gov Nisit, Mr Veera, city officials, police and Health Department officials first went to check on a work camp on Moo 6 in Cherng Talay.
The team were checking for human trafficking, illegal foreign workers and also the worker̕s living conditions.
The health department randomly gave nine Thai workers drug tests, all of which came back negative.
Officials also gave one man who drove past the work camp a drug test, the result of which came back positive. The man admitted that he had recently taken ya bah.
Later, at 9:30pm, Mr Veera ordered a group of Thalang volunteers to check to set up a security check point near the Old Airport Rd in Mai Khao and to stop and check all incoming and outgoing vehicles, and to conduct random drug tests.
43 people tested negative for drugs at the check point while 5 tested positive. The five all admitted to using either ya bah or ya ice and were willing to receive drug treatment.
Then, at 11:30pm, officials raided four karaoke bars in Mai khao and Thepkasattri. Nine people tested negative for drugs and two tested positive.
The two admitted to taking ya bah and said that they wanted to receive treatent for their addiction.
Officials stressed to restaurant owners and operators that their bars must close as stipulated by the law and that they should ensure their venues are free from drugs, human trafficking, prostitution and child labour.
