Diesel tax hike on the cards
The director-general of the Excise Department will ask the finance minister to gradually increase the diesel excise tax from next month “to improve its revenue-collection performance”.

Excise Department Director-General Bencha Louischaroen said she will propose that the finance minister gradually increase the diesel tax from the current half a satang per litre to the original rate of 5.31 baht per litre before this fiscal year comes to an end.
She said the timing of the increase is appropriate, given that global oil prices are on a down-trend.
