Project Engineer Chalermpon Wongkietkun told The Phuket News, “Today is last day of this project contract, and there is no reason to postpone the final contract date anymore.
“If Vivat Construction Co Ltd continues with the project they will be fined just over B2 million a day starting from tomorrow,” he said.
“The company still has about 70 more metres to excavation before the tunnel is complete, and they do not know when that will be finished. And now they say there is a problem as they have hit the water table which will further delay work,” he added.
“Vivat Construction Co Ltd will continue with the project for now, but if they stop their work and do not take responsibility they will be blacklisted. This will have serious consequences for the company as they will then not be able to bid for any future government projects,” he added.
When asked by The Phuket News what would happen if Vivat Construction Co Ltd did stop construction, Mr Wongkietkun replied, “We are not worried, we have a plan in place to finish the project should that happen.”
