Day 2 of 7 days of danger on Phuket: 11 hurt, no deaths

PHUKET: The island’s motorists managed to get through a second day yesterday (April 10) without a death on the roads, this morning’s meeting on the Seven Days of Danger heard.

However, one car driver and 11 motorcyclists, including a Russian woman, ended up in hospital.

Anastasia Averyachkina, 30, collided with a car in an accident blamed on “poor visibility” at 4:40pm in Kamala. It was also noted that she was not wearing a helmet. She was taken to the Mission Hospital.

Of the other motorbike casualties, three crashed all by themselves (two were reported as being drunk), three hit vehicles while overtaking them, one hit another motorbike, two crashed into pick-up trucks, and one rammed into the back of a car.

The one car driver who was taken to hospital was Jantararat Noopeung, 34, who banged into a motorbike in Cherng Talay at 8:30am, injuring herself in the process. She was taken to Thalang Hospital.
