Chamnan Intham, 48, arrived at Thalang police station at 10:30am yesterday (July 24), said Lt Suporn Muangkhai.

“He said he panicked after the accident, so he and his friend fled the scene,” he said.

Both men suffered only minor injuries in the crash, he added.

Chamnan saved police a search, as they already had his identification card, which was left behind in the wreck. (See story here.)

“Mr Chamnan was charged with reckless driving and damaged to public property,” Lt Suporn said. “He also provided proof that his insurance will pay for all damage to the light pole.”

Lt Suporn did not reveal what Mr Chamnan said caused the accident.
