Around 150 people, all dressed in white, marched from Put Jaw Shrine (next to Jui Tui Shrine in Phuket Town) to Muang District office at 1pm yesterday (Oct 14) to hand in a formal complaint to district officer, Sub Lt Narit Rerddee against Theerawut Srisurarak who took over as shrine president five years ago.

The complaint, which has been signed by around 400 people, alleges that Mr Theerawut has not been keeping a full record of the shrine’s finances.

Speaking on behalf of the devotees, Kitiphat Warisuwanwong, 56, said, “We want officials to investigate the finances of Put Jaw Shrine. We suspect that receipt and spending transactions of the shrine are not as they should be and that a number of transactions have not been reported to our committee.

“It is unclear how much money have been received and spent since Mr Theerawut took over as president of the shrine.”

Sub Lt Narit told the group that he will pass on the complaint aganst Mr Theerawut to the Muang District Chief who will assign officials to investigate the matter.
