The victim, 26-year-old Mr Guobiao Guangdong, was found lying face down in the water by other members of his tour group whilst on a tour of the Phi Phi islands, Koh Hong park chief Mr Jampen Phompakdee told The Phuket News yesterday (July 25).

“We were alerted by a tour group that they had discovered an unresponsive Mr Guobiao in the water. Mr Guobiao was taken to shore where rescue workers administered CPR. We then contacted officials from the Ao Nang Administration office (OrBorTor) who transported him to Krabi Hospital,” Mr Jampen said.

“Medical staff said that the man had choked on water and that he had been taken to the ICU,” he added.

A member of staff from Krabi Hospital today (July 26) confirmed that Mr Guangdong was still in the ICU but declined to give any further details of his current condition.
