Pol Col Peerayut Karajedee, Deputy Commander of Phuket Police told The Phuket News today that they contacted the school and informed them of their investigation about the alleged abduction, and that the whole thing turned out to be from one student who made it all up and told her parent about it.
Winai Suriyaprakan, Director of Plookpanya Municipal School issued a letter soon after telling parents that police had confirmed that a student made up the child abduction story and told her parent about it. The frightened parent posted a message onto her Facebook to warn others without checking into the story first.
The letter issued by Mr Winai on Tuesday said, “Some parents have published details on Facebook about protecting students because of a van that was parked in front of Plookpanya School, and then a man came to talk with a student who was sitting alone at the stairs at the main gate of the school, close to the school sign.”
“After that, the man took a piece of cloth to cover the mouth and nose of the student, but the student escaped and shouted to friends. The man ran away to the van and left.”
The letter issued today said, “To ensure safety of students, we are ramped up our security, asked parents to be vigilant and had 3-4 teachers on duty after school was out. Parents were also asked to pick up their children on time and additional CCTV was installed in the area.”
Col Peerayut Karajedi said, “We found out the true facts yesterday afternoon (Feb 18). It is not a true story.”
