Checks on Phuket fishing boats find nothing untoward

PHUKET: Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong was part of a team who yesterday (April 29) carried out checks on three fishing boats looking for illegal workers and activities. 47 fisherman on board the boats were also screened for drugs. Nothing untoward was found.

Officials carry out checks on one of the three fishing boats.

At 2pm, Gov Nisit led team of police and officials from the Thai Royal Navy, Fisheries Department, Employment Office to check fishing boats at Ao Klong Tha Chin for any illegal workers and activity.

The team spent two hours checking three fishing boats and 47 crew member (40 Burmese and 7 Thai).

After the two hour check officials stated they had found that no immigration or employment laws had been broken, there were no signs of human trafficking, no illegal transportation of oil or fuel, and no signs of drug use.
