Kusoldharm rescue worker Natthawut Plukmaidee posted a video clip on YouTube clearly showing the shocking incident on Thepkrasattri Rd where the woman was struck by a car.

In the initial report, 53-year-old Ms Malee Chailek was said to have died instantly last Friday when a red-plate Toyota Camry smashed into her while crossing Thepkrassattri Rd in Thalang. (See story here.)

However, the CCTV footage posted on YouTube shows that the woman first crossed the road and stepped onto the raised median strip, she then turned back and went back onto the road before crouching down, which is when the car struck her.

Lt Col Watcharin Jirathikanwiwat of the Tha Chatchai Police who is investigating the incident said that after his team checked CCTV footage from the area they found some footage from a Mai Khao Tambon Administration Organisation (OrBorTor) camera which shows the footage.

“We know how the incident happened, but we still don’t know why Ms Malee decided to come back and crouch on the road.

“We are investigating into that matter to be fair to all involved. However, the Toyota driver (whom he declined to name) is currently facing a charge of reckless driving causing death while we continue with our investigation,” he said.
