TPL and Football Association of Thailand bosses met yesterday to discuss the future of clubs hit by financial problems.

After the meeting, FAT lawyer Narinpong Jinapak said Police must pay salaries of about B50 million to 19 players by 5pm yesterday.

He later said the club did not make the payment by the deadline so they were booted out of the TPL.

Pattaya United, another promoted club, were given until last night to submit their financial plan, Narinpong said.

TOT, who were relegated from the TPL at the end of last season, are allowed to play in League One after they paid salaries to their players, the lawyer said.

Meanwhile, Saraburi chairman Veeraphol Adireksarn announced yesterday the team would not take part in the TPL in the upcoming season because of financial problems.

Mr Veeraphol said entertainment company RS had agreed to be a major sponsor of the club but later withdrew its support for fear that this could violate stock market rules.

“We have withdrawn from the 2016 TPL season because we do not have budget,” he said.

He added that he was willing to listen to takeover offers.

The TPL will meet today to determine which teams will replace Police and Saraburi before releasing the 2016 fixture list.

Meanwhile, TPL runners-up SCG Muang Thong United beat Malaysia’s Johor Darul Ta'zim 3-0 in a penalty shoot-out after a scoreless draw in an AFC Champions League play-off match at SCG Stadium on Tuesday night (Feb 6).

Goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan was the Kirins’ hero as he stopped all three of the visitors’ spot kicks.

Muang Thong will go to Shanghai SIPG, coached by former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, on Feb 9 with the winners entering the group stage.
