Director Kittikorn Thiengkunakrit cited the reason was the inability to distribute the election ballot sheets from Thalang Police Station, where they had been stored, after the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) had blockaded it on Friday (January 31) night.

Subsequently, notices has been sent to every polling station across Phuket advising them that the election would not go ahead because there were no ballots to be used.

He went on to say that a new election date would be scheduled soon, for people who were unable to vote in the nationwide elections, insisting that no-one would lose their right to vote. He added that political groups must inform the courts why they couldn't take part.

Mr Kittikorn said that the Phuket Election Committee planned to sue the PDRC over the blockage of Thalang Police Station that prevented the election from taking place.

At 9am this morning, candidate 40 from Life Quality Development party, Songsiri Krailert, age 41, from Thalang (pictured in blue polo shirt), filed a complaint with the police about the election committee for neglecting their duty, and the PDRC for blocking the election.
