The Third Naval Area Command was notified at 2.30pm yesterday of the accident, which took place on the 140-foot superyacht, Ocean Victory, which is understood to be bearing the flag of Cadman Island, and skippered by a German captain, Thilo Buercks.

The accident occured at 2pm at the coordinates of 9.40.4 degrees lattitude and 97.49.4 degrees longitude, in front of Koh Tachai and within territory of the Similan Islands National Park, when the superyacht was in the process of reeling in its anchor.

The injured man was named as 33-year-old Toni Koleu, a crewmember of the 40-metre-wide vessel who carries a Bulgarian passport, and whose both legs suffered deep, severe gashes from the incident, resulting in an enourmous amount of blood loss.

By 2.30pm, Toni was rushed by speedboat to the Tub Lamu Pier in Phang Nga's Tai Muang district, where he was transferred to an ambulance that brought him to Bangkok Hospital Phuket.

The Bulgarian Embassy has been notified of the incident, and the investigation is continuing.
