British national Colin David Osmond, 37, and the three Canadians – Maryse Doyes, 69; Jacques Doyes, 64; and Andre Belzile, 74 – are recovering at Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town, reports the Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command.
All four were safely recovered from their stricken 11-metre yacht Kiss by the Singapore cargo vessel MV Kota Teguh, which rendered assistance to the crew while en route to Kolkata, India.
The Vessel Traffic Control and Maritime Security Centre at the Phuket Marine Office notified the Royal Thai Navy air-sea rescue division of the yacht in distress at 8.04pm on Sunday (Feb 28), said the Navy report.
Naval officers dispatched patrol boat HTMS Klaeng to the last known location of the yacht, about 52 nautical miles south of Phuket.
The HTMS Klaeng recovered the crew from the MV Kota Teguh and returned to Phuket with the SY Kiss under tow.
All four survivors arrived on board HTMS Klaeng when it docked at the Third Area Command pier at Cape Panwa, on Phuket’s east coast, at 6:20pm yesterday (Feb 29).
“Ms Maryse and Mr Belzile were weak from their ordeal, but safe,” the Third Area Command reported.
“All four were sent to Vachira Hospital to check their health,” said the report.
