At 1pm, Cherng Talay police received a call from Cherng Talay OrBorTor stating a fishing boat had spotted a body floating about six kilometeres out from Layan Beach in Cherng Talay.
Kusoldharm rescue workers and volunteers went by speedboat to recover the body of the man who was only wearing a pair of blue shorts.
Police have said that they believe the man is between 30-35-years-old and between 165-170 cms tall.
He had severe slash wounds to his neck and face and his body had started to decompose. Rescue workers took the body to Thalang Hospital for autopsy.
At this time, police have no idea on the identity of the man and only know that he had been dead for at least three days.
Police have stated that it is possible the man was crew on a fishing boat who may have got into a fight or was possibly attacked by co-workers and dumped in the sea.
Police are now investigating to establish the identity of the man and the cause of his death.
