Somchai Yungtalay, 30, who went fishing with his girlfriend at Promthep point, got swept out to sea on Tuesday (July 29).
Search and rescue teams had been searching for him since the incident occurred. At 5:30am this morning (July 31), Chalong police received a call from the missing man’s relatives, saying they had found his body washed up on nearby Yanui beach.
Pol Capt Kaison Boonpasop, head investigator of Chalong police, and Ruamjai Kupai Rescue Foundation, went to the beach.
There they found Mr Somchai's body, surrounded by weeping relatives. Investigators found no evidence of foul play and were already aware that the victim had been dead for less than two days.
The body was sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for autopsy.
